Some verbs are followed by the -ing form, called a gerund. No rule predicts them, so learn them as a group: enjoy, avoid, finish, mind, admit, consider, deny, discuss, keep, miss, practice, quit, suggest.

Verb	Example
enjoy	I enjoy cooking for friends.
finish	He finished reading the novel.
mind	Would you mind holding my bag?
discuss	We discussed hiring more staff.

✗ ~~We discussed about hiring more staff.~~ ✓ We discussed hiring more staff.

To make a gerund negative, put not before it: She admitted not reading the email.
